Online communities are still in their infancy.
Yes, we’ve had Facebook groups for a while but Zoom-based communities only started to take off after co-vid.
What makes online communities particularly powerful is they allow us to connect with people who have similar interests without having to leave home.
The internet has collapsed space, physical distance is no longer a barrier to connection.
I believe online communities will increasingly play a role in our ability to develop as individuals and as a collective.
There are many online communities on the internet but one that has recently been popping up on my radar is Intentional Society.
Founded by James Baker a former software developer turned facilitator, Intentional Society integrates developmental awareness with various relational practices to catalyze human transformation.
In the latest episode of the Elevating Consciousness podcast, I sat down with James to speak about what he has learned after facilitating over 150 weekly gatherings at Intentional Society.
Click the video below to tune into our wide-ranging conversation where we explore the role of relational practices in human development, playing with power dynamics, breaking through social conventions, navigating the relationship between safety and growth, becoming developmentally aware, and the paradoxical dance between being and becoming.
